While serving an arrest warrant to 518 Hunts Bridge Road, deputies with the Pickens County Sheriff’s office found a disturbing scene.Five minor children, ranging in age from 4 to 14, were unattended at the residence, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
“There was no food in the house and no working lights,” the release said. “There were 19 dogs in the house, four of which were unresponsive. Officers observed the residence to be littered with dog feces and urine. The toilets in the residence were filled with human waste and there was a large hole in the bathroom floor.”
Pickens County deputies arrested and charged an Easley Couple with multiple counts of child neglect after finding five children living in squalor on Friday.
Robert Allen Henderson Jr. and Angela Michelle Wardlaw both face five counts of unlawful neglect of a child, according to the arrest affidavit.
Deputies said the couple was keeping five children -- ages 4, 8, 9, 13, and 14 -- in a filthy home on Hunts Bridge Road with no food and no working lights.
According to the arrest report, the house was littered dog feces and urine from 19 dogs found in the residence, four of which were unresponsive. The report also stated that the toilets were filled with human waste and there was a large hole in the bathroom floor.
The children have been placed in the custody of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
Henderson remains in jail on $15,000 bond, but Wardlaw has been released.
