The 9-year-old boy who went missing in Minneapolis Tuesday and was found safe roughly 15 hours later, has been placed in foster care, according to police.
Minneapolis Police said Jevonte Lynell Victor was found around 9 p.m. by a relative in north Minneapolis after he arrived at their home. Minneapolis Lt. Greg Reinhardt said Victor is in foster care while investigators look into the underlying circumstances of what prompted him to run away early Tuesday morning.
Victor has not been reunited with his parents at this time. He is also being medically evaluated because of his asthma and the amount of time he spent outside in the heat and humidity -- about 15 hours.
Reinhardt said Victor is being kept on a 72-hour hold, which is not unusual for a case like this, where a child runs away from home.
