A Massachusetts mother accused of beating her 13-month-old baby boy to death favored her daughter and called the boy "fat and lazy," court documents say.
Christina Hancock, 23, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Concord District Court to a charge of murdering her son Kaydn, The Boston Herald reported.
On May 12 Hancock called 911 to report the boy "fell out the crib ... smashed his head and wasn't responding very well," state police said.
But court documents filed yesterday show a pattern of neglect, authorities said.
Witnesses told investigators Hancock "was practically inseparable from her daughter (but) she gave up custody of her oldest son when he was 9 months old and left Kaydn in the care of a babysitter for a substantial period of time, including weekends and holidays," according to the filings.
She favored girls so much she gave away the older son and called the 13-month-old "fat and lazy" before allegedly beating him to death, witnesses told police.
An autopsy revealed bruises on Kaydn's back, stomach, lung, colon, liver and thigh, abdominal bleeding and a cut lip, the Herald reported.
Hancock is pregnant with her fourth child, police said.
